A military-owned construction firm has secured a $250 million contract to work on Long Thanh International Airport, a critical project that is set to drive economic growth in Dong Nai and surrounding areas. The consortium of six companies secured a contract worth VND6.27 trillion (approximately US$253 million), which is 4% below the tender offer, as announced by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam on Friday, Sept 13th 2024.
With its completion, the airport will facilitate trade, tourism, and logistics, aligning with Dong Nai’s goal of becoming one of Vietnam’s largest economic hubs by 2030. The region already hosts major industrial parks such as Amata, Long Duc, and Loteco, home to companies like Samsung, Coca-Cola, and several automotive manufacturers, which will benefit from improved infrastructure and global connectivity.
These industrial parks, particularly Amata Industrial Park, one of the largest, and Long Duc Industrial Park, play a pivotal role in Dong Nai’s economy. The enhanced infrastructure from Long Thanh Airport will improve supply chains, reduce transportation costs, and attract even more foreign investment. With plans to turn Dong Nai into a service and industrial hub, the area is poised to become an economic powerhouse, reinforcing its strategic importance in Vietnam’s broader development plan.
